Dr Lawrence Li joined Nestle (China) in 1995, where he has been the Manager of the Nestle Nutrition Institute’s infant nutrition brand; Medical Director (Greater China Region, GCR), Infant Nutrition; Medical Science and Compliance Officer – Nestle Infant Nutrition (GCR), before taking on the role of Chief Medical Officer for Nestle Health Science (GCR). In this role, Lawrence is responsible for the research of Foods for Special Medical Purposes (FSMPs) and products for consumer health, regulations and registration, medical nutrition science, clinical research, market entry, training, consumer relations and so on.
He has over 34 years of experience in infant nutrition and FSMP products in China, and is also a licensed nutritionist. Lawrence also holds positions and/or memberships with the International Dairy Federation (IDF) as special consultant, the China Dairy Industry Association (CDIA) as Vice Chairman, the Chinese Nutrition Society, the China Nutrition and Health Food Association, the China Maternal and Child Health Association, the China Health Inspection Association Nutrition and Food board, and the Journal of Developmental Medicine editorial board.
Lawrence graduated from the Shanghai Medical College’s School of Public Health in 1985, and obtained his Master’s degree in Food and Nutrition from the University of the Philippines in 1989. He spent close to 10 years as a researcher in the Chinese Academy of Preventative Medicine before joining Nestle (China).
